The comb-over hairstyle combines the slickness of the 60s with a modern, urban edge. With tapered sides, a deep parting and a smooth top, the comb-over hairstyle will add extra attitude to any look.

A slight variation on the side parting, the comb-over fade goes just as well with a biker jacket and jeans as it does with a vest and slacks.

How it began

The history

Slick and sophisticated, the comb-over was huge during the golden age of Hollywood. Every leading man worth his weight in pomade wore this style like uniform. By the 50s and 60s it became the go-to look of Madison Avenue’s ad men.

If you’ve got long enough hair on top, then this style is versatile and fun to work with. Keep it slick and to one side.

Carefully comb your hair forward and find your side parting. Keep things neat.

Blow-dry front to back. Comb the top of your hair into place, but keep the parting.
